In order to keep the efficiency of CPU utilization, Windows always have some “Services” running in the background. Most of the time, the software we install also starts some services in the background which may necessarily be not important for Windows to keep up. Also, at times most of the software like Google Chrome has a background host program which inundates memory.

They initialize and capture enormous amount of available disk space from the very time the OS boots up, thus causing consistent deadlocks or slow operations. To avoid this, you can disable these services at the startup so that other important programs doesn’t gets chocked up. For this,. Here you can see list of all programs which starts coherently. Looking carefully on the list you can easily figure out which program is running unnecessarily and disable.

This will not only free up disk utilization but also help Windows boot faster next time. A lot of events were dropped but here is the report. Try this one. Let me first say that this trace may have been corrupted because of insufficient HD bandwidth. That could be because of the excessive HD writes from the system or an actual HD issue.

There seem to be 2 issues that are combining to form an endless loop of writes to the HD. First is Chrome. These new processes are then written to disk. The second thing and this is by far more important in the HD thrashing. There is an “unknown” process that is generated over and over again. This may be the chrome issue from above or it could be Malware. What to do. I would use a different browser just to see if the problem happens with it.

If it does not I would re-install chrome. I would also run Malwarebytes just to be safe. I ran Malwarebytes and it didn’t find any malicious software although the unknown process still appears. I closed Chrome and the computer is running a bit better but still spikes.

As soon as I open an application though, it gets a bit worse and if I have a few open at once it comes to a near standstill even though I have 8GB RAM. I ran WPR twice no events dropped , once with no apps open, the second time with IE open and task manager was open too, i think. Here is the link. I think the previous one would have worked too.
