I had the same issue but resolved it by manually installing the Language Features on Demand FoD using PowerShell, I noticed that when installing the Japanese Language or Spanish Mexico I did not have some extra icons see screenshot below , I only had the first icon.

If you only have the first icon, try the following, please note that you would need and Administrator account and internet access to perform these actions:. You would need to scroll up and check the Language features that include ja-JP, their State may be “Not Present” which would indicate that the Windows image installed on your PC does not have does features locally installed, collect the names of all the ja-JP language features in my case I found 6 features that showed “Not Present”, I am using in them in the next step to install them.

This worked for me on two PCs and so far they are working nicely, hopefully they stay like that, and lets hope updates do not break it. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Attempts to remove the Language. Basic and Language. TextToSpeech capabilities will output error messages stating that these capabilities can’t be removed.

PowerShell may indicate that other capabilities can’t be removed because they’re missing. However, running this series of commands should put the “Basic Typing” component into a bad state, which allows Windows 10 to reinstall it.

In the Language options: Japanese window, there should now be an option to “Download” the “Basic Typing” capability even though that capability supposedly couldn’t be removed according to the PowerShell error message shown earlier. Click “Download”. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another. Any content of an adult theme or inappropriate to a community web site. Dear Victor, Thank you for your help! I’ll try it! Best regards, Kaori. Thanks so much Victor for explaining everything so clearly. I followed the steps you described and it resolved the issue for me. Thanks again! Jiro Y. This was perfect, thank you for your help! Very helpful and clear guidance!! Patrick Dark. I was able to solve this issue with a variation of these steps.

Reboot Windows 10 to complete the uninstallation. After the download succeeds, the Japanese IME should be working properly. In reply to Patrick Dark’s post on February 14, Thank you Patrick for sharing your process, I haven’t tried it but will do it if I get the issue again on another machine.

Did you try the steps I posted before trying your process? I am just interested to know if it had failed for you so I can try to understand why and how I could make it work. This site in other languages x.
