Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Office introduced a bunch of new error codes. This is one of them. I have not seen it before neither have most of the other people on this forum. If you can, give us a screen capture of the message box. Sometimes the message text is actually useful and provides vague or not so vague hints to the cause of the problem. I have a relatively new 62 bit computer with windows 8.

I originally downloaded the programme from the internet with google chrome. All has been working well for a few months. However I found that I could not open any word document. Tried all the recommended automated fixes eg incompatible programme etc, which did not work and eventually removed the programme and tried to install it again. Alas I now find that I get the following error message ”Sorry, office ran into a problem because its system service is disabled.

Please ensure the office system service can run, then try again. This is the same message that I got when trying to open a word document. What is the fix? Note : If you are using a bit operating system, save the fixit tool on the system and then run it from the saved location. Word has a long history of requiring frequent re-installs to “fix issues”. The control panel uninstall leaves various “configuration” files like normal.

If the problem is in these configuration settings it would just be carried over. What I ended up doing was to again use the ”Microsoft Fix it” to remove the programme and then performed a ”clean boot” before reinstalling it. As you know performing a ”clean boot” identifies and lists other programmes that would normally start up.

These can them be temporarily disabled. Perhaps I need not have gone this far but it worked. I got this generic thing and I’m connected to the internet, and have 1. It is very rarely that problem. Instead there is some sort of issue with the network connection. I just rebooted my computer and it was fixed. Give that a go first. A couple people have reported problems specifically with Verizon “Jetpack”, switching internet connections worked.

Try right click and “Run as Administrator”. This resolve this matter on our machine that had this issue. For those not familiar with how installs: you download a 1 MB installation client which then pulls the actual Office files down – a few GBs worth, I believe. I was able to do the first part but not the second. Unfortunately MSFT’s installation client doesn’t offer something as simple as a test of whether the installation server is accessible.

I don’t know how much of this I would have needed had I simply left my office, and tried the installation at home. I don’t know what kind of automation is in play when I log on at home. It was an internet connection problem. As you rightly suggested, it was a WiFi connection that I was using. I switched to a SIM card based connection, and the upload successfully downloaded and installed.

Thank you so much for your help. It could be your antivirus, malware software, or firewall interfering. You will need to temporarily disable them, and then try installing again. Follow these steps:. I think my problem may have been similar to yours, Chris I was installing Office at work, which I’m on a domain for Its quite possible that the ip was being rerouted via several external ports from the network, or something like that, because as soon as I got home, re-ran the fixit, and tried reinstalling Access, at least , it appears to be working.

Fingers crossed that this will work on Office as well, or else I’m still in trouble Upon further investigation, I found that I had two simultaneous network connections that routed to the internet. One was a WiFi connection linked to a particular subnet, and the other was a wired ethernet connection linked to a different subnet.

Both connections were capable of reaching the internet, although both would have had different public facing IP addresses. My best guess is that the streaming requires a consistent connection to one IP address, but the client is load balancing or shifting the connection between the two routes.

When I disconnected the wired connection, and kept only the WiFi connection – the problem was resolved. For those people experiencing the same issue – check to see if you have a wireless and wired connection, or an active VPN or similar. Something about the way the proxy is set up.
