Oct 17, · So, I think maybe Microsoft have finally killed off Jet So how to proceed. Well would VB talk to Access I hoped, so I repurchased and converted my MDB file to ACCDB format and it is OK in Access So I started a new project in VB Express on my 64 bit machine and tried adding a new datasource.
So awaiting salvation, I had another idea as to whether the copy of the EXE file saved before the Anniversary Update would still work.
So I deleted the programme directory from my hard disk and copied my backup copy complete. To my surprise it ran without the error about Jet. OLEDB 4. So, I went for broke and opened the programme in Visual Basic Express which I had uninstalled and reinstalled last week.
There were no error messages about the no MS Controls. So I built it and there was two errors. One stating the Net Framework needed updating which I was prompted to do and did. The second error message was that Forms was no longer part of VB. Once I deleted “Windows. Form” from all the instances of OpenFileDialog the programme ran just fine.

So I converted them to MS supplied components only to run into what looks like a flaw to end all flaws as follows. After an hour of fruitless googling and trying most if not all solutions including using regsvr32 to register the msjetodbe It registered but VB Express would not run with the same error.

OLEDB Pause for many loud cussing. That seemed to install but it makes no difference as the ACE. All bloody frustrating as I cannot find any reference facility or book to guide me where to go next.
I am loath to discard my programme but may have to start again from scratch. If you know how to solve the connection problem between VB and Access, please let me know if possible with sample code. In the meanwhile more newer manuals and maybe turning the ACCDB file into son of programme but I could cheerfully throttle the lunatic in MS who sets up this kind of problem with other changes to other programmes other than Windows Ask a question.
