A few clients of mine are very interested in the functionality of interactive video and the ability to generate quantitative objective data via quiz reporting.

However, some of them do not have an LMS, and are asking if there is a way to collect the quiz results for the whole team rather than on an individual basis with the intent of generating data that shows the teams improvement as a whole over time.

What is a PHP enabled server, and which is the best one to use? Would I be able to retrieve the results from the web or do the users and I have to be connected to the same network? Find a consultant experienced in web development. You need the PHP web server to submit and analyze the data that captivate collects.

Depending on how many students are accessing your course at a time, you might find yourself having to spend a pretty penny on your own web server. Moodle is pretty complicated to get installed and working properly, especially with outside integrations trust me, I ran and configured the Moodle instance for my prior company that serviced students. Let me know if I can help more, I have quite a bit of experience in this area.

Thanks Jemmille for your feedback. I agree we would need someone with web development experience to get this working if you do not have an LMS or if you have an LMS that does not support reports like that.

For now I think this option would make things to complicated for my client. I will suggest it though. They have their own IT department, maybe they can help.

People who either prefer not to set up their own web server or do not have the expertise to do it, use web hosting providers. The hosting provider provides the web server with the appropriate stack installed, and you just need to install an LMS. As Lieve pointed out Moodle is free. Some hosting providers provide a one-click install for it, but many do not so you may want to ask them about Moodle prior to making any commitment.

I use it for my website toyinja. Of course, there are also hosting providers who specialize in Moodle installations. They are a little more expensive, but they will do the installation and any back-end maintenance as needed. You can find more information at moodle. Thanks for the clarifying explanation about a webserver like WAMP.

I cannot use my hosting service as LMS. I thought that the OP needed to have reporting set up. Hi Alex, unfortunately I do not have a solution for you. But a client of mine also wants to collect more data from Captivate courses. They want to know what answers are given by their learners on the questions in the course. A good idea in my opinion. Change to a differtent LMS is not happening shortly. It can store Captivate data in a Google sheet. But I am not sure whether it works with Captivate and whether this widget is still supported.

I looks like their site is not updated for some time. I posted a question though, hope to get an answer soon. I know Michael Lund cpGuru. However most widgets were created for SWF output. Be careful: almost no HTML widgets are available by third parties.

Since the Flash Player support even for desktop browsers will end later this year, do not invest in SWF output anymore. The current LMS supports some reporting score, finished status etc , but not the more advanced reporting of specific buttons pressed etc. In Scorm cloud it does work indeed. No, it does not. It is already an older version too. Quite a bunch of questions. My first reaction is: please try to find an expert in programming, because this is way beyond the scope of questions to be answered in a simple user to user form.

I Do not contact me, I am just skilled in Captivate. Why not try out a free LMS like Moodle? It would save a lot of time and money. Adobe has developed a LMS…. You must be logged in to post a comment. Show All Notifications.
